Flexible Steel Lacing Company of Downers Grove has been a long time, top supporter of United Way of the DuPage Area thanks in large part to employee Carole Long who also happens to be our Board Secretary.  UWDA was invited to speak at their Manager’s meeting and were received warmly with a great endorsement given by Carole Long about United Way’s commitment to the community.  We thank Flexible Steel Lacing and Carole Long for their continued support for United Way. 

October 23, 2007

BandoUSA of Bowling Green, KY, a longtime supporter of United Way, reached out to us to extend their campaign to their Itasca location.  They invited United Way of the DuPage Area to come out and speak to their employees.  We thank them for their continued support and enthusiasm for giving back to the community.

November 12, 2007

IPSCO Enterprises of Lisle, held a luncheon and invited United Way of the DuPage Area to come out and speak on behalf of this year’s campaign.  We thank them for their continued support and enthusiasm for recognizing United Way’s importance to the community.

October 26, 2007

 Illinois American Water, located in Woodridge, allowed United Way of the DuPage Area to come and speak to their employees on behalf of this year’s campaign.  We thank them for the opportunity and hope that it was helpful in generating enthusiasm and support.  We thank them for their support of United Way.

The new board was introduced to the public at its annual meeting, which was held on June 20. Walker Geyer of Wheaton, former vice-president, is the board’s newly elected president. Jerry Broz of Lisle is the new vice-president. Jean Utley of Wheaton is the board’s new Treasurer, and Carole Long of Downer’s Grove remains Secretary.

This year’s honorary board members include State Representative Patricia R. Bellock, State Senator Kirk W. Dillard, Mayor of Wheaton Michael J. Gresk, Mayor of Woodridge William F. Murphy, Paul Pyrcik of Central DuPage Health, Regional Superintendent of Education in DuPage County Dr. Darlene J. Ruscitti, Mayor of Downers Grove Ron Sandack, William E. Whitney of Hinsdale, and Carson Yeager of Northern Trust.

Other board members for the 2007 year are Jean Baker of Elmhurst, Rob Bisceglie of Roselle, Jon Emerson of Glen Ellyn, Barbara Intihar of Wheaton, Bridget Johnson of Woodridge, Cynthia Johnson of Lisle, Bob Larsen of Wheaton, Sue Luperini of Naperville, Bill Lyman of Elmhurst, Phil Mavon of Western Springs, Nate Paulson of Wheaton, Tim Sheehan of Addison, Phil Smith of Winfield, Rachel Thomases of Wheaton, Don Tomes of Wheaton, and Erin Vaughan of Westmont.
